It's been a pretty good couple of days for Daniel O'Leary as he picked up his second win in as many days here at PPT #2 Calgary. He was fresh off taking down the NLH/PLO mix last night when he showed up for Thursday's events and while he didn't have any luck in the PLO Big Bounty game, he jumped into the Turbo side game.
That proved to be a great decision as about 7 hours later he was the proud owner of another PPT trophy. While I wasn't able to watch much of this as I was focused on the PLO game as my main game today. When I did get over to the table, O'Leary was heads up against Edmonton crusher Bash Ramahi.
Ramahi started out with the chip lead, but O'Leary quickly jumped to the lead when he forced Ramahi to fold a big check-raise on a flop where both players hit a 9. He got away from that spot, but it cost him the lead, and a few hands later he was all in with ace-six but ran into O'Leary's pocket sevens.
The sevens held and O'Leary was holding his second trophy in as many days. After the win last night he confirmed that was his first PPT trophy, so now he's jumped from 0 to 2 in just two days.
Bash Ramahi had a slight chip lead when they got heads up, but he had the misfortune of running into the red-hot Daniel O'Leary. O'Leary was fresh off winning the NLH/PLO MIx last night and he wasn't about to be denied a second trophy.
Ramahi dropped to second after both players flopped a nine. Ramahi managed to get away from that one, but not before he had to give up a big check-raise on the flop. That left him at a deficit, and the money when in a few hands later with Ramahi on against pocket sevens for O'Leary. The sevens held and Ramahi had to settle for second place.
Daniel O'Leary raised to 33k and Bash Ramahi called to see the flop of . Ramahi check-raised from 20k to 50k, but then hit the tank when O'Leary came back over the top for 135k. Ramahi eventually folded, showing a nine. O'Leary didn't show his hand, but said he also had a nine.

They are heads up now after short stack Shane Brotherwood hit the rail in third place tonight. I missed the action writing up the previous hand but Brotherwood scored $3,210 for third tonight.
Bash Ramahi opened the small blind to 26k and Daniel O'Leary called from the big to the flop. Ramahi bet 20k and got the call to the
turn.
Both players checked to the river, and Ramahi fired out 100k. O'Leary made the one-chip call but mucked when Ramahi turned over
for the turned nut straight.
The Turbo side game is now down to 3 players left in the game. The players who have already hit the rail in the money were David Tran, Curtis Singleton, Francis Fan, Haven Taylor, and Zeyu Huang.
Still alive at the table now are Bash Ramahi, Shane Brotherwood, and the winner of the NLH.PLO Mix last night, Daniel O'Leary. Below is a look at the final four players tonight.
The numbers are in and the Turbo game saw 75 entries for a prize pool of more than $21k. Eight players will share in the prizes with the winner set to pocket $6,455.
The Turbo field is up to 66 entries for prizes of $18,810, just a few entries away from $20k. There are about 30 minutes of poker left before the final break of entries, so the field for this one should be set within about 45 minutes.
There are now three tables in play in the Turbo game tonight with 19 players and 20 entries in total. Among the recent entries were Kim Pham and the face of the PPT this year, Haven Taylor.
The Turbo side game is now underway with 12 players in their seats. Among the players looking for glory in this one are Brian Wells, Melissa Sekulich, Trevor Simpson, Nadav Bitton, Debi Loomer, Glenn Tarasoff, and Antoine Saddleback.
Event #7: $340 NLH ($300 + $40)
Apr 11 - 5 PM
Starting Stack: 20k
Blinds: 20 Min
Late Entry: 9 Levels (~8:30 PM)
The side event on Thursday will be an NLH turbo game with 20k stacks to start and 20-minute blinds. The action kicks off at 5 PM, and players will have 9 levels, or until about 8:30 PM to enter or rebuy. This game won't likely get much of my attention at the start, but if the PLO Big Bonuty finishes before this one, I'll be over to cover the endgame here.
