66 players are returning to the felt for Day 2 action on Tuesday and Saskatoon's Sunny Lubana leads the field with more than 600k while E1 winner David Ko bagged the second stack in the 500k range.
See the chip counts tab for a look at the qualifying stacks from Day 1, and look for a Day 2 post soon with seats.
The clock is now paused with 10 minutes left in Level 15 and there are five hands left in the night on all tables. There are 69 players remaining at the moment but that could still change before the bags come out.
The Day 2 players will all be returning in the money tomorrow as the bubble burst with about 25 minutes remaining in Level 15. They are down to 71 left now with just over 20 minutes to play in the final level of the night.
They are just two players off the money as the final level of Day 1 begins. They'll bag up for the night in just under 40 minutes, and it looks pretty certain that they'll be in the money when they bag.
They are now 10 players away from the money spots with 83 players left in the game now. With a bit more than 15 minutes left in Level 14 it's looking more likely now that they'll burst the bubble tonight and returning players will be in the cash, but there's still a lot of poker to be played before we get there.
There are now 94 players left in the game, just 21 away from the paid spots with less than 5 minutes to play in Level 13. It still looks to be a race to the finish to see whether they hit the money bubble before the end of today's action.
The prizes are posted under the Payouts tab now and they are 31 players away from the money spots now with just under 25 minutes to play in Level 13. Among the players still alive and battling are Zenni Petros, Dylan Descheneaux, Caleb Simmons, Karim Chatur, Jackson Oniske, Kyle Ho, Westin Pring, Ghislaine Johnson, and Jeff "Ironman" Charlebois.
The $1k players are now on their dinner break, and entries will be closed when they return from dinner at about 6:15 pm. There are 472 entries on the board at the start of dinner, which puts the prizes at $413k with 71 players sharing a piece of that.
There are just under 2o minutes to play in Level 9 and this is the final level to enter the game. The players will head out for a dinner break following this level, and entries will be open through that break but will close for good when they return for Level 10 at about 6:15 pm.
A few of the other faces I've spotted today so far include Kyle Crego, Evan Thomas, Michael "Berny" Bernstein, Joon Park, Cliff Green, Jeff "Ironman" Charlebois, and E1 winner David Ko.
Level 9 has just begun and this will be the final level to enter or reenter the game. The prize pool is now over $400k with 463 entries so far for today with just shy of 90 minutes left to get into the game.
The field for the $1k is now up to 453 entries for prizes of $396k. There are about 25 minutes left in Level 8 and Level 9 will be the final level for players to rebuy. Entries will still be open through the break following Level 9, and the desk will close after that dinner break.
Hari Aujla, Lee Clark, Ryan Smith, Toby Wu, Karim Chatur, Shawn Sperber, and Sunny Lubana are all in the field today fighting for a piece of those prizes.
The field is up to 442 entries now with a bit less than 5 minutes to play in Level 7. That puts the prizes at $386,750 right now with a bit more than 2 hours to get into the game or rebuy.
Among the players I have spotted today battling for this one are Stephen Dauphinais, Aron McLean, Zenni Petros, Deven Lane, Ron Lothian, Anthony Manfredi, and Kirk Nilson.
Players have just returned from their second break of the day and action is now in Level 7 with blinds of 500/1000/1000. There are 417 entries on the board already, which puts almost $365k into the prize pool already. Entries are still open for a bit more than two hours.
Among the players I've spotted in the field today is Manitoba crusher Eric Wasylenko, who looks to be playing his first event in this series. Along with him, a short list of other familiar faces includes third-place finisher from the bounty last night, Westin Pring, Zenni Petros, Pete Fylyma, Rob Lothian, and Haven Taylor. That list doesn't even scratch the surface though, as every table seems to have multiple familiar faces at it.
Event #7: $1,000 1k ($875 + $125)
Jan 15, 11 am
Start Stack: 30k
Blinds: 40 Minutes
Entries: 9 Levels (~6:15 pm)
Day 1: 15 Levels (~10:30 pm)
The two-day $1k is typically one of the more popular events here at WSOP-C. There are 15 scheduled levels on Day 1 at 40 minutes each, and players can get a 30k start stack or rebuy for the opening nine levels. Entries should close around 6:15 pm and the bags will come out at about 10:30 pm.
It was a very late night on Sunday so I won't be on the floor to start this event. I should be in the room before entries close, and I'll be following this one as my main game on Monday once I wake up. Once this event bags at around 10:30, I'll move over to finish out the night on the PLO Monster Stack.
