Paul Sokoloff just picked up his fourth Circuit ring after taking down the Seniors event tonight. He had about half the chips in play when they were six-handed, and never really lost the lead through the final table.
He was ahead when he got heads-up with Jim Berry and it didn't last long. Just a few hands in they got into a race and Sokoloff's fives held up against the ace-nine for Berry.
The final hand was a race between ace-nine for Jim Berry and pocket fives for Paul Sokoloff. The fives held through a dry board for both hands, and Berry had to settle for second place.
Level 23: 100000/150000/150000
Entries: 2/453
They are heads up in the Seniors game now with Paul Sokoloff in the chip lead over Jim Berry.
I'm still focused on the endgame of E3 for now, but the Seniors are now at the final table with nine players left. Calen McNeil was the first player off the final table, and you can see most of the payouts under the Payouts tab, with the caveat that a few players haven't reported in for their cash yet.
The numbers are in for the Seniors game with the field confirmed at 453 entries and prizes of $149,496. The winner tonight will pocket $29,671 and three players will get five-figure paydays.
See the full payouts under the Payouts tab.
Level 10: 1000/2000/2000
Entries: 180/453
The Seniors game is down to 180 players now with action in Level 10. The payouts are up on the board and I'll get them into the system ASAP but it looks like 68 players will be pocketing cash from today's event.
Level 9: 1000/1500/1500
Entries: 213/453
Registration has closed on the massive Seniors game today with the field topping out at 453 entries for a prize pool of $149,490. As mentioned, I likely won't have eyes on this one until later in the day when Event #3 finishes out.
Level 7: 400/800/800
Entries: 254/434
I've been in the other room following the Day 2 action in Event #3 but the Seniors game is truly massive. With 434 entries already, it looks like the biggest Seniors field ever for WSOP-C Calgary, and that also means it's likely the biggest over-50 field in Alberta history as well.
I haven't confirmed that record yet, but it seems pretty likely as I can't recall a 400+ field for a seniors game previously.
Event #5: $400 Seniors
Jan 14, 11 am
Start Stack: 20000
Blinds: 30 Min
Entries: 8 Levels (3:30 pm)
Action is set for the Seniors game at 11 am. Players start with 20k in chips to play 30-minute levels. Entries will be open for 8 levels and the final chance to enter will be at about 3:30 pm.
I won't likely be following this one very closely as I'll be focussed on Day 2 of Event #3 for most of the day, but I'll move to the seniors when it finishes.
