There wasn't really any heads-up play tonight as the final two players agreed to a chop as soon as play got two ways. They both agreed to $9,500 with the remaining $668 and the trophy on the table to play for. They ran it out with a single all-in hand, winner take all, and Ajay Gill nailed it when he was the first to reveal a card, and he showed the gut card to a four-card gutshot draw on the board.
Runner-up Pav Braich could only hope to chop after he revealed a brick for his first card, but he bricked #2 as well to give Gill the title in what was a fast-moving game that didn't even run 11 hours. One interesting story from the final table tonight emerged from some visitors to Canada. Japanese couple Hideki Takafuji and Akaya Muraishi not only both final-tabled the event today, but they were also the runner-up team to Team Lothian in Saturday's tag Team event.
While they have likely had a good weekend from a poker perspective, there may also have been some domestic strife as it was Takafuji who sent Muraishi to the rail tonight for ninth place. For his part, Takafuji managed to ladder to 7th in today's event.
The final two players just cut a deal to take $9,500 each and play a single hand for the remainder and the trophy. The final hand played out pretty wild -- the dealer laid out a board of and Pav Braich told Ajay Gill to open one card at a time. Gill opened his first card as the hitting the gutshot board straight. Braich revealed a deuce, then Gill flipped over another four.
"So I need a four for a chop?" Braich asked as he rolled over his final card. It wasn't a four, and Gill had the win.

Just before the break, Gerald Chung found a bit of a miracle to survive. He was all in against Gary Rooprai, but ran his suited jack into the pocket queens for Rooprai. Rooprai had him covered and it looked like he'd be going home in 5th place, but the bard ran out all diamonds with both players having all-black hands.
Shortly after the break, however, Chung's luck ran out as he sent his chips to Ajay Gill to his left.
