Luigi Shehadeh wins 888Live Barcelona; next up: the WSOP!

Italian online pro Luigi Shehadeh has won the inaugural 888Live Make It Big Barcelona Main Event for a career-best cash of €110,000.

Shehadeh, a 23-year-old online MTT specialist, made the trip to Barcelona alongside his brother Fares. He won the 888Live Make It Big Barcelona Main Event after a dominating performance on the final day at Casino Barcelona. American pro Cate Hall was leading for Day 3 but eventually bust in fourth place for €35,000. British pro William Kassouf, who was leading with 20 left, bust just short of the final table, finishing 11th for €,8000.

 

Shehadeh has now managed to take his live tournament winnings from a meagre €13,440 to nearly €250,000 in less than a month. His win last night follows a sensational victory in Campione on May 2 when he beat a 2,477-entry field to win the Italian-dominated Barracudas Main Event for €100,000.

In 2015, 888poker sent 128 players to the WSOP Main Event, eventually won by the 888poker-sponsored Joe McKeehen. Another of those players was Tommy Yates, a British ex-pat who earned his ticket to the Main Event via a one cent satellite entry. He wound up turning that penny into $19,500 by finishing 486th out of 6,420 players.

 

In 2016, 888poker sent more than 250 players including November Niners Fernando Pons and Griffin Benger, who qualified for the WSOP Main Event via €30 and €160 satellites respectively. Out of 6,737 players, Pons finished ninth for $1 million while Benger took seventh for $1,250,190.
