888poker aiming to break records with 2017 WSOP qualifiers

By Mad Harper

For the third year running, 888poker will partner with the World Series of Poker for its annual series in 2017, making it the exclusive online provider of the WSOP qualifier satellites and promotions.  The WSOP features 74 events at the Rio from May 30 to July 18.

888poker Ambassador Kara Scott will host the ESPN coverage of the WSOP alongside Lon McEachern and Norman Chad as the exclusive telecast partner. The broadcast will air in 84 countries and reach over 300 million worldwide annually.

888poker qualifiers
Working with Main Event Travel, 888poker will be giving its qualifiers a fantastic $12,500 WSOP Main Event package. This includes staying in a Deluxe Suite at the luxurious Vdara Resort in the heart of the City Centre Campus on the Las Vegas Strip from July 9 – 14, plus $10k Main Event buy in and $1,200 expenses. Players who win a $3,000 Crazy Eights package will be at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino (from July 1-4) and receive $1,200 travel expenses plus entry into the $888 Crazy Eights Tournament & more.

In 2015, 888poker sent 128 players to the WSOP Main Event, which was eventually won by the 888poker-sponsored Joe McKeehen. British ex-pat Tommy Yates qualified for just one cent on 888poker and spun it up to a $19,500 payday, finishing 486th out of 6,420 players.

In 2016, 888poker sent more than 250 players including November Niners Fernando Pons and Griffin Benger, who qualified for €30 and €160 respectively. Out of 6,737 players, Pons finished ninth for $1 million while Benger was seventh for $1,250,190. Qui Nguyen took it down for $8,005,310. The event attracted 6,737 entrants with the top 1,011 getting a share of the $63,340,268 prize pool.

In 2017, 888poker is hoping to break records with the number of qualifiers that head off to Vegas after winning satellites online.

Supersize Me
This year 888poker is also granting all its qualifiers the chance of winning BIG in its special “Supersize ME” promotion.

If a player qualifies for the 2017 WSOP Main Event through 888poker and goes on to win the “Big One,” 888 will guarantee a $10,000,000 first-place prize – that is, make up the difference between the regular payout and whatever’s needed for a $10m payday.
