The numbers are in and Colten Yamagishi has the big stack from Day 1b after going on a bit of a heater near the end of the evening. He bagged 386.5k which isn't quite enough for the Day 2 big stack but will put him in second behind the Day 1a leader Garry Sandhu.
Day 1b is now complete with 17 players left in the game, according to the board. The tournament staff is still going through the bags so I'll have an official final number shortly but if that holds, 27 players will be returning for Day 2 to compete for 21 paid spots.
The clock is now paused with 21:33 left and they've drawn four hands to complete the night now. There are still 17 players left in the action, but they could lose a few in the final hands.
Stay tuned for the qualifying stacks within an hour or so, and I'll post the Day 2 seats after that.
They are down to 17 left now after Colten Yamagishi caught Julius Roque with his hand in the cookie jar. Roque got his money in with four-deuce but ran into jacks for Yamagishi and couldn't find the miracle.

No matter what, this will be the final level of play. Staff will be stopping the clock in about 10 minutes to draw for the remaining hands in the evening, assuming they don't lose five players before then. But no matter what, the day will end before Level 14 does.
It was a bit of a roller coaster ride for Bernice McLennan when she shoved and got called by Rafael Nitafan. She had king-deuce of diamonds against queen-jack off.
Nitafan spiked a queen on the flop, but McLennan spiked the diamond flush on a turn that gave Nitafan two pair. The river went the other way again, giving Nitafan the boat with another queen and sending McLennan to the rail and bringing the game to 18 players left.

The field is down to just 23 players left alive, which is 10 players away from the end of the day. I had previously reported that they'd bag early at 14 players, but it will actually be 13 if they make it that far. Otherwise, the day will end with a bit more than 11 minutes remaining in Level 14. There are now a bit more than 15 minutes left in Level 13.
It was a classic race between Leo Brouwer and John Donnelly. Donnelly had the ace-king against Brouwer's pocket queens but Donnelly hit his king on the board to grab the double.

It looks like Colten Yamagishi is currently the big stack in the room with more than 250k. His was the only stack that I saw with more than 200k in it, but Rogelio "Ogie" Orian and Jayveen Lumahan have about 160k each.

The players are just heading out for their final break of the night with 25 players still in action. That means when they return they'll have just under 2 levels of poker to play unless they get down to 14 players first.
Ron Lauzon opened the betting from the middle to 6,000 and Colten Yamagishi called from his left, as did Geordi Lobe in the big blind. The flop came and Lobe checked to Lauzon, who continued for 7,000.
Both Yamagishi and Lobe called to the turn and it checked around to Yamagishi who bet 32,000, close to the full pot. That was enough to push off both other hands and send Yamagishi to around 200k.

Ed Zurawell opened from the button to 5,100 and got calls from Tina Nguyen and Calen McNeil in the blinds. The flop came and it checked to Zurawell who continued for 4,000.
Only Nguyen called from the small blind to see on the turn. After a few seconds of thought she led out for 7,500 and Zurawell's hand found the muck.

Colten Yamagishi opened the betting early to 4,000 and he was called by button Joyce Funk and small blind Curtis Singleton before big blind Nicholas Peterson reraised it to 20,000. No one was willing to make the call, and Peterson took it down without any cards being dealt.

Things are moving quickly here on Day 1b now that entries have closed. The field is down to just 27 players left in the game now on three full tables. Tat leaves them just 13 players away from an early end to the night.
Kim Pham raised the cutoff to 3,000 and got a call from small blind Brad Stevens. It all kicked off on the flop of when Stevens checked to Pham who shoved. Stevens snapped it off with the flopped straight with ten-nine against the king-jack two pair for Pham.
Stevens' excitement was short-lived however as Pham spiked another king on the turn for the boat and the river was meaningless.
Day 1b is down to 36 players now on 4 tables, and they'll bag up early if they hit 14 players before the end of the day in Level 14.

Among the late entries today on the dinner break was BC's Mal Hagan who had a great series here in September. He jumped into the action just before the dinner break ended. Stay tuned for the official numbers and prizes shortly.

There are still about 20 minutes left in the dinner break before entries close and Level 9 begins. I've just had a wander around the room and it looks like Nicholas Peterson is the current leader with about 135k. Jayvee Lumahan, Curtis Singleton, Kim Pham and Ron Lauzon also have six-digit stacks at dinner.

The final level of poker for entries is now complete and the remaining 41 players are off for their dinner break. New entries and reentries will still be accepted until the end of dinner, so there are now less than 45 minutes to get into Event #2.
The just passed the 15-minute mark in Level 8, which means there is now 1 hour left to get into this game. There are 15 more minutes of poker in this level before the remaining players head out for their 45-minute dinner break and entries will be closed for Event #2 when they return to the felt for Level 9 at about 8 pm.
Level 8 has just begun and this will be the final level for players to enter or reenter Event #2. Entries will still be accepted through the dinner break following this level but will be closed when they return to the felt for Level 9 in about 75 minutes.
There are currently 86 entries for 1b putting 158 in total across both days for a combined prize pool of $75,050.
The Day 1b field is now up to 85 entries with 50 players still alive at the felt. That puts the total field size at 157 now for combined prizes just shy of $75k now. There are still about 90 minutes left to enter, though only about 45 minutes of that will be during active poker play, with the rest coming on the dinner break following Level 8.
Level 6 is ticking down toward the end with less than five minutes to go. That means there are just over two levels of poker left for reentries, though entries will still be available throughout the dinner break following Level 8.
Right now the total prizes for both days are sitting at $71,250 with exactly $30k in the bounty pool and $41,250 in the prizes for Day 2.

Day 1b has now equaled the total field for Day 1a with about five minutes left to play in Level 5. There are still more than two hours of entry left so the numbers are sure to climb still. The current total field is 144 which puts $68,400 total into the combined prizes.
Level 5 has just begun with players back at the felt following their first break of Day 1b. The two-day field size is now up to 138 entries with 66 so far today. Total prizes are now sitting just about $65k with $27,600 of that in bounties and $37,950 in prizes.

They are on the first break of Day 1b bow with the conclusion of Level 4. They'll be back in action in about 15 minutes with four more levels of poker to play before the dinner break and the end of entries at the start of Level 9. That means the final chance to enter today's flight is about 3 hours away.
They are less than five minutes from the first break of the day and it looks like Ron Lauzon is one of the leaders at the moment. He had 75k and Julius Roque looks to have about the same. On the next table over, Nicholas Peterson has about 70k while Greg Maddex is playing about 60k right now.

There are about 15 minutes left in Level 4 and the players will be heading out of the room for their first break of the day at the end of this level. The current 1b field is 60 entries, putting the two-day total at 132. Among the players I noticed on my last tour of the room were Leo Zhang, Michael "Berny" Bernstein, and Alex Polkovsky.
Level 3 is just finishing with 58 entries on the board now and 48 players still alive. That puts the combined total prizes ar $61,750 with $27,550 of that coming from Day 1b entries. The total field is now up to 130 entries with $26k in bounties and $35,750 in prizes.
There are now 48 entries on the board for Day 1b, bringing the two-day field size to 120 now. That puts the combined prizes at $57k now across both days.

There are now 45 entries on the board with 41 players still in the mix. That puts today's prizes at $21,375 and the two-day total at $55,575 with $23,400 of that locked up in bounties and $32,175 going into the Day 2 prizes. Level 2 has about 5 minutes left.
Level 2 has just begun today and the field is up to 39 entries now. That puts $18,525 into the prize pool for today's entries and brings the two-day total to $52,725. $22,200 of that is locked up in bounties, while $30,525 has gone toward prizes.
Entries today are still open for about 4.5 hours and it seems almost certain today's field will easily surpass yesterday's total of 72.
There are now 23 entries on the board for today, and so far, no calls of Seat Empty have been heard in the room. Among the other players I've spotted in the field today are John Donnely, who won the Seniors Event here in Sept this year, as well as the summer Main Event at Casino Edmonton in early August, as well as last night's 3rd-place finisher in the Seniors, Ali Razzaq.
The cards are now in the air for Day 1b with 18 entries on the board to start the day. Garry Sandhu is the stack to beat from Day 1a. He bagged almost 450k by the end of the day, more than 200k ahead of second place Preston Stevenson.

As with Day 1a, players have 8 levels to enter the game and including breaks, that should put the last chance to enter at about 8 pm this evening. Day 1a ended with a bit more than 11 minutes remaining in Level 14, so today's flight will be shortened to the same length. However, they could end even earlier if they hit 14% of the starting field before then.
The action is now about 30 minutes away so stay tuned to find out who makes Day 2 tomorrow.
