Raffaele Sorrentino wins PokerStars Championship Monte Carlo; Sochi next!

Congrats to Italian poker pro Raffaele Sorrentino who has won the PokerStars Championship Monte-Carlo Main Event for a career-best €466,714.

 

PokerStars will be heading to Russia next for the debut PokerStars Championship Sochi event, running May 20-31. We have great hotels in this stunning resort.

 

The 37-year-old from Catania outlasted a field of 727 players to win the prestigious event at Monte Carlo Bay Resort.

 

More than €30 million was awarded in prize money across 72 events at Monte Carlo Bay Resort with more than total 9,600 tournament entries. Runner-up Andreas Klatt is now a soaraway leader in the MonteDam Swing and will be heading to Amsterdam soon today; a €7,500 PokerStars Championship Barcelona package is up for grabs for the MonteDam Swing winner.

 

Among the 143 players who took a share of the €3,525,950 prize pool were Sergio Aido, Vicente Delgado, Manig Loeser, Dan Smith, Jan Bendik, Fabrice Soulier, Jason Wheeler, Mark Teltscher, Patrik Antonius, Luke Schwartz, Maria Ho, Victoria Coren Mitchell and Byron Kaverman.

 

PokerStars will be heading to Russia next for the debut PokerStars Championship Sochi event, running May 20-31 at the spanking new and ultra-glamorous Sochi Casino and Resort. The Championship will bring dozens of exciting poker tournaments to Russia's premier holiday resort, including a guaranteed PokerStars Championship Main Event prize pool worth RUB 150,000,000 (approx. $2,600,000), the largest guaranteed prize pool ever featured in a Russian poker tournament.
