It was a pretty crazy final table that included a three-way all-in four-handed that sent Ryan Comely to the rail, but gave 3rd place finisher Chris Hak the chip lead at the time when his kings cracked the aces of runner-up Schell. Winner Hoang was on the sidelines for that one as he was the only player to much their hand.
Hoang had a big stack for much of the day. I chatted with him during bubble play while he was using his stack to bully his table, especially in PLO with relentless re-potting against smaller, less aggressive stacks. He didn't exactly run over the final table however; instead, he played a cagey game that saw his stack see-saw a bit but rarely putting himself at risk. Hoang had about $313k in wins coming into the game tonight, so this will push him close to $320k now.

Kevin Schell | 0 | 0 |
The final two players decided on a chop that saw Tony Hoang get first place and $7,824 while Kevin Schell secured $7,000 for second place. The two players were close in chips when the deal was struck but Hoang was a bit ahead and got the bigger payday and the trophy while Schell pushed his Hendon Mob page from less than $1,000 to more than $7,500 now.
They are heads-up now in the Mix game after Chris Hak got his money in from the big blind against Kevin Schell. Haq was on a suited queen against ace-five for Schell, and, with a five on the flop, Schell took the lead to win it.
Tony Hoang is in the lead with about 1.6 million to 1 million for Schell.
Player | Chips | Progress | |

Tony Hoang | 1,600,000 | 600,000 | |
Kevin Schell | 1,000,000 | 100,000 | |
Chris Hak | 0 | 0 |
Money went in on the turn with Tony Hoang on a set of fives against flush and straight draws for Chris Hak. Hak bricked the river while Hoang filled up to double.

---|---|---|---|
Tony Hoang | 1,000,000 | 450,000 | |
Chris Hak | 550,000 | 450,000 |
This level has been a lot of smaller pots and Kevin Schell and Chris Hak in the lead.
Player | Chips | Progress | |
---|---|---|---|
Kevin Schell | 1,100,000 | 285,000 | |
Chris Hak | 1,000,000 | 80,000 | |
Tony Hoang | 550,000 | 250,000 |
It was a huge cooler that sent Ryan Comely to the rail in 4th place. He shoved his short stack from the small blind after a button raise from Chris Hak. Kevin Schell flatted from the big but Hak reraised all in and got the call.

Kevin Schell:
Schell had everyone covered, but Hak flopped a king to take the lead and held to get a huge double-up while Comely hit the rail in 4th place.

Registration is now closed for the Mixed game and the board ended with 107 total entries. If that holds, 11 players will get a piece of $30,495 in prizes, but I'll confirm those numbers shortly when the prizes are posted.
The field is up to 92 in the NLH/PLO mix with players now on the final level of play before entries close. They'll still be able to buy for the break following this level, so entries are set to shut down in about 45 minutes.
The prizes now are $26,220 and 9 people will get a piece of that based on the current numbers, but I expect that to be at least 10 paid spots before entries shutter for the night.
The field in the Mix game is up to 77 entries now for prizes of $21,945. Level 6 is just underway, so that means there are a bit more than 90 minutes left to get into this one today.
Meanwhile, tonight's satellite is about to get underway in the Social Room wth three tables of players at the moment.
The field in the Mix is up to 69 entries now with the first break just finishing. That puts the prizes at $19,665 with that number expected to cap $20k with two more entries.
Entries are still open for another 2 hours or so.
They are starting the third level of play in the Mix game now with entries at 51 for prizes of $14,535.
Level 1 is about halfway finished now and the field is sitting at 28 entries for prizes of $7,980. Entries are still open for about 4 hours yet with the expectation that entries will close around 8:30 this evening.
Event #5 is about to kick off in the Poker Room with 12 entries on the board. The clock still isn't running yet, but they'll be in action shortly with odd-numbered rounds playing with two cards and even-numbered rounds playing with four.
Event: | #5 - $340 NLH/PLO MIx ($300 + $40) |
Date: | July 24, 4 pm |
Blinds: | 30 Minutes |
Start Stack: | 25,000 |
Late Entry: | 8 Levels (~8:30 pm) |
Wednesday is the first day this week for four-card lovers to get their game on. They'll have to put up with half the levels playing with two cards in this one, but four-card action will happen every even-numbered round.
Play kicks off at 4 pm and players will have until about 8:30 pm to enter or rebuy. They'll get 25k in chips for their buy-in for 30-minute levels, so expect this game to go pretty late. I'll be focused on the 6-Max game for most of the day, but this game likely gets my attention late tonight for the endgame, depending on how the 6-Max plays.
