GUKPT off to Leeds on Sunday after record-breaking Goliath

By Mad Harper

After yet another record-breaking Goliath in Coventry, Grosvenor Casino’s popular GUKPT is back on the road this weekend with Leg 6 of the tour - the £100,000 guarantee GUKPT Leeds running from Sunday to September 15.

We are the tour’s Official Travel Partner and can help you find great accommodation for GUKPT Leeds as well as all other remaining stops on the 2019 GUKPT schedule. Leeds is one of the UK’s most vibrant cities and attracts millions of visitors a year, nightlife is booming and there are tons of bars, restaurants and clubs – plus excellent shopping.

This year’s GUKPT Leeds boasts a packed schedule which includes the flagship £100,000 guarantee GUKPT Leeds Main Event (running September 12-15) and £10,000 guarantee Mini Main (September 8-10). Also on the schedule are an £100 Omaha 4/5/6 event, £200 NL event and a £100 Turbo Bounty tournament – plus, of course, plentiful cash game action. Aside from the Main Event satellite, all tournaments feature unlimited reentries.

Among those competing will be Grosvenor Ambassador Katie Swift who said: “I’m playing both the Mini Main and Main Event at Leeds. I’m really looking forward to playing a GUKPT, as I haven’t played since Manchester at the beginning of the year! After a bit of a summer break, this will be the prefect kick-start back to poker.”

Fellow Ambassador Andy Hills said: "I shall be heading to Leeds for day 1B of the Main Event, right off the back of a poker trip to Cyprus. I finalled the Leeds Main Event in 2017 as part of my GUKPT 'Passport' freeroll - let's see if I can improve on that 9th place finish!"

2019 GUKPT Goliath
The 2019 GUKPT Goliath broke its own record this year for the largest poker tournament outside of Las Vegas – beating last year’s field by more than 1,800 entries! There were 9,299 entries in total this year, creating a simply massive prize pool of £911,410. Lee Reynolds took it down after turning his £125 buy-in into a £64,601 payday.

The top 922 finishers all got paid with numerous well-known players making the money including The Hippodrome’s Kelly Saxby, Natalie Bromley, Sunil Mistri and Daiva Byrne.

Last year’s GUKPT Leeds
British pro Adam Owen scored a unique double at GUKPT Leeds last year – taking down both the Main Event (for £41,950) – and the Mini Main (for £3,850). His incredible double victory was the first time any player has ever won both tournaments at the same GUKPT. The runner up was Grosvenor Passport winner David Gee. There were 302 entries.

Now celebrating its 13th season, the GUKPT is the longest running poker tour in the UK, welcoming poker enthusiasts from all across the country for a packed week of fun poker action.
