BATTLE OF MALTA SET FOR NOVEMBER RUN
If you’re missing out on EPT Malta, don’t panic! You will still have your chance at poker in balmy climes with the PokerListings Battle of Malta event running November 2-7 at Portomaso Casino. Battle of Malta 2016 is billed as “THE #1 destination for low- to mid-stakes poker players” – it’s a pretty big claim but not without foundation after the event won the 2014 European Poker Award for Best Poker Event Under €2k (and was nominated again last year).
We strongly recommend a trip to Malta. It’s not only a lovely island but is fast becoming one of the places in Europe to play poker with a wealth of great hotels, restaurants, bars and clubs just a stone’s throw from the casino.
Battle of Malta has broken its own attendance records every year since its debut in 2012. That €550 event attracted 349 entries but the field nearly doubled in 2013 when 888 players bought in, making it – at the time – the biggest tournament ever held in Malta. In 2014 the event had 1,447 entries and 1,804 competed last year. This year Battle of Malta is pulling out all the stops with a €500,000 guarantee for the Main Event and a record eight side events - not to mention, cocktails by the pool, blow-out parties, breakfasts, blackjack tournaments, world-class DJs and karaoke, and the fabulous Maria Ho returning to host the event.
