Working mum Katie chases £1m top prize at partypoker MILLIONS

By Mad Harper

There are just 45 players left in the record-breaking partypoker Millions £5,300 Main Event at Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham – with a top prize of £1,000,000 up for grabs.

Lots of partypoker LIVE events coming up soon: Grand Prix Canada from April 25 – May 1, Grand Prix Dublin (April 28 to May 1), partypoker Million North America (May 5-10, $5m gte), partypoker Million Germany (June 1-5) and partypoker Millions Russia in Sochi (Sept 1-11).

Second in chips is working mum Katie Swift from Kent. Swift, who runs her business, won her seat in to partypoker MILLIONS via a £550 Phase 1 Online qualifier and is now sitting on 74,040,000. Swift, who has $129k in live tourney winnings to date, comes from a family of poker players and was taught by her parents at an early age. Her best cash coming in 2015 when she was runner-up in the 2,764-entry Goliath Main Event for £46,300.

Austria’s Moritz Dietrich is the chip leader after bagging up 78,115,000. Dietrich, who made the final of the WSOP $10k NL 6-handed championship last summer, has more than $300k in live tournament winnings.

In third place by Argentina’s Maria Lampropulos on 57,540,000. Lampropulos started Day 3 yesterday on the same table as her boyfriend Ivan Luca. He bust in 138th place for £10k and then spent a few hours loyally railing his better half until jumping in the £2,500 side event.

Other big stacks still in the Main Event include Sergio Castelluccio (45,785,000), Vicente Delgado (44,750,000), David Peters (43,540,000), Jake Cody (40,000,000), Igor Kurganov (35,420,000), Jon Spinks (34,815,000), 2016 Irish Open champion Daniel Wilson (20,385,000), David Yan (19,250,000), Javier Gomez (13,800,000), Iaron Lightbourne (10,900,000) and Tom  Hall, who finished third in the £10 High Roller. The short stack is Stephen Chidwick  on 2,085,000. All remaining 45 players are guaranteed at least £20,000.

Thousands of players competed in the partypoker MILLIONS Main Event with online and live entries reaching well over 6,000. The total prize pool beat the £6m guarantee – with 253 players getting a share of £6,017,395.

As well as the Main Event payouts, five players are still in contention for an additional £100,000 thanks to a special Last Longer competition from the Caribbean Poker Party in Punta Cana last November. Thomas Dunwoodie is leading the pack in that race.

The £25k Super High Roller was won by Canada’s Pascal Lefrancois for £151,300. There were 14 entries with runner-up Mustapha Kanit and Poland’s Bartlomiej Machon also cashing.
