What’s on in May

May is chock full of poker events all over Europe and North America including 888 Make It Big Barcelona, WPTs, PokerStars Championships, Unibet, partypoker LIVE, GUKPT, Genting and Super Stack – and that’s before it all gets going over in Vegas for the World Series of Poker.

888Live

The first 888Live Make It Big Festival in Barcelona takes place May 11-22 and we are the Official Travel Partner, offering great rates on accommodation of all kinds in the Catalan capital.  The festival is at Casino Barcelona with 12 days of non-stop poker and a staggering total guaranteed prize pool of over €700,000!

 

WPT

The WPT Season XVI is well under way with WPT Amsterdam taking place in the Netherlands from May 5-13 at Holland Casino. This the WPT’s first European event of Season XVI and the tour’s third consecutive visit to the Netherlands. The €3,300 Main Event has two starting flights with one re-entry per flight. WPT Amsterdam also features a European debut for WPTDeepStacks with the €1,500 WPTDeepStacks Amsterdam Main Event running May 5-8. Super Stack 

Super Stack heads back to Spain on May 4-7 at the Torrequebrada Casino and Resort located on the first beach in sunny Benalmádena next to Malaga. The event will feature the Super Stack structure and features four starting flights, offering  great value and a great buy-in of just €170.

The tour will also make its first visit to Scotland, at the  Vegas-style, quayside   Alea Casino in Glasgow from May 11-15 (pictured). The venue has three stunning bars and beautiful restaurant. This will have the same format as the other Super Stack events, only with a £170 buy in.

partypoker LIVE

Following the phenomenal success of the partypoker MILLIONS at Dusk Till Dawn, partypoker LIVE fans will now have their eyes set on Dublin and Canada. There’s a guaranteed CAD$5 million up for grabs at partypoker Million North America which runs May 6-11 at Montreal’s famous Playground Poker Club. The winner is guaranteed a $1m first prize – a formula which has had thousands competing – both live and online – for the partypoker MILLIONS Main Event in the UK.

partypoker Million North America follows hot on the heels of partypoker Grand Prix Canada which runs April 25 – May 1, also at the Playground. Partypoker LIVE in Europe continues at partypoker Grand Prix Dublin from April 26 - May 1.

 

 

Europe & Morocco

As well as the first 888Live Make It Big Festival in Barcelona (May 11-22), there are loads of other events taking place in Europe as well as sunny Morocco. After a great event in St Amand, the Unibet Deepstack Open tour is heading to stunning Grand Casino La Mamounia for USDO Marrakech from May 11-14.

 

Don’t miss the chance to visit the stunning capital of Estonia when Cash Game Festival heads back home to Tallinn. The five-day event runs from April 26 – May 1 with a live stream on Twitch. The festival has another event planned for May with Cash Game Festival Gibraltar onboard the stunning Sunborn Yacht Hotel & Casino from May 17-21.

 

PokerStars has two major events in May. The first is its annual jaunt to Monaco. The debut PokerStars Championship Monte Carlo event (replacing the popular EPT Grand Final) takes place at the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort from April 25-May 5. The first ever major PokerStars event in Russia takes place at the end of the month. PokerStars Championship Sochi runs May 20-31 at the spanking new and ultra-glamorous Sochi Casino and Resort and will be seeking to emulate partypoker’s success there in March.

 

 

The WSOP wraps up the 2016/2017 season of its International tour with events in Portugal and Belgium: WSOP Estoril runs from May 1-7 and the season-ending WSOP Brussels takes place at Grand Casino Brussels Viage from May 19-28. The Estoril stop features six events with a €1k Main Event from May 4, along with €300 NL 6-max, €300 Big Stack, €2k High Roller, €300 Second Chance and €300 Omaha.

 

UK

There’s tons of action in the UK too. Grosvenor Casinos’ 25/25 Series has two events in May: Portsmouth from May 4-7 plus Cardiff (May11-14) and Dundee (May 18-21). GUKPT Reading is taking place May 21-28. Leg 5 of the popular tour comes with a £100k guarantee for the £550 Main Event.

 

Genting continues its 2017 tour with Leg 7 in Blackpool (Mini) from May 4-7. The £220 buy-in Main Event has a guaranteed prize pool of £35,000 which includes nine GPS £440 seats. That’s followed by a trip to Essex for the £100k guarantee Leg 8 - Westcliff event from May 18-21.

 

Another PokerStars MEGASTACK London is taking place at The Hippodrome Casino from May 5-7. All PokerStars MEGASTACK events take place over the weekend, cost £170 to enter, take place over three starting flights, have one re-entry per day, and a 50,000 starting stack. New stops all over Europe have been added to the MEGASTACK schedule with MEGASTACK Leinster taking place at the Regency in Dublin from May 12-14 and further stops planned throughout the year in London, Ireland, Northern Ireland, France and Belgium.

 

USA

As well as all the action in Vegas, there are two Mid States Poker Tour events on in May: the $3m guaranteed MSPT Michigan runs May 18-21 at Firekeepers Casino before the tour heads to Vegas in June for MSPT Las Vegas.
