Fed up with cold and driving rain? A quick jaunt to Marrakech could be just the ticket for banishing post-Christmas blues. The WSOP International Circuit heads to Morocco with an event in Marrakech from January 14-22. The eight-day festival at Casino de Marrakech features 22 events including the €1,350 Main Event, a €1,800 High Roller and €2,700 Super High Roller (re-entry event). Main Event Travel has a bunch of great hotel options including the Sofitel Marrakech Lounge and Spa and five-star Kenzi Farah hotel situated at the heart of Marrakech’s Hivernage trendy, cosmopolitan district in luxuriant surroundings.
Last year Egyptian player Mathieu Selides won the Main Event for 1,105,000 Dirhams – the equivalent of more than $110,000 – after beating Belgian player Anthony Rodrigues heads-up. There were 447 entries, creating a 5.3 million Dirham prize pool (€1 is just over 10 Dirhams).
