First WPT Deepstacks of 2019 in Berlin next week

By Mad Harper

The first WPT Deepstacks festival of 2019 starts in Berlin next Tuesday at Casino Spielbank Berlin. With a Main Event guarantee of €500,000 and a total of 16 tournaments on the schedule, the event seems set to draw a large and stellar crowd.

The €1,100 + €100 buy-in Main Event runs January 11- 15 with three start flights (including a Fast Chance 1c Turbo). The tournament features 40 minute levels and unlimited re-entries. Late reg is open until the start of Level 10.  The festival gets underway on January 8 with a €60 + €6 turbo satellite for the WPTDS Berlin Opener. Also on the schedule are a €90 + €9 Ladies Event and €2,000 + €200 High Roller (which comes with a €100,000 guarantee), plus an Omaha tourney, the Freezeout Classic, Survivor and Bounty events.

Last year’s Main Event attracted 561 entries with German player Dustin Mangold taking it down for €134,809. French pros Fabrice Soulier and Michel Abecassis were among the well-known players to enjoy deep runs.

Following Berlin, the WPTDeepstacks tour heads across the pond for WPTDeepStacks Hollywood running January 17-22 and a WPTDeepstacks tourney also features as part of the debut WPT Russia festival taking place in Sochi from January 13-27.
