WPT makes debut in Sochi in January

2019 gets off to a flying start for the World Poker Tour which is heading to Sochi Casino for the first-ever WPT Russia in January.

The festival features seven events and nine satellites for a total of sixteen poker events ranging from $300 (19,800 rubles) satellites to the $9,000 (618,000 rubles) High Roller. The full schedule runs from January 13-27 at historic Casino Sochi which is stunningly located between the Black Sea and the Caucasus mountains.

The major attraction of the festival is the 180,000 ruble buy-in WPT Russia Main Event (approx €2,400) which comes with a 90 million ruble guarantee. The event features a great structure starting with 30,000 in chips for 60-minute levels on Days 1, 2, and 3 followed by 90-minutes on Day 4 and 60 minutes levels at the final table.

After various online Day 1s, live action gets going with the WPT Opener, which kicks things off with a 30,000,000 Rubles GTD ($454.5k) prize pool. Other events include the 90 million Rubles ($1.4M) GTD Main Event, a High Roller and a 6 Max Turbo among others.

Casino Sochi is an excellent venue on and off the felt and provides the perfect atmosphere where you can play for your share of the ?184,500,000 GTD ($2,795,196 GTD) total festival.

The Casino Sochi facilities include 569 state-of-the-art slot terminals, 70 gaming tables, including 22 American Roulette tables, 38 tables for Blackjack, Russian Poker, Casino Texas Hold’em, Baccarat and a separate Poker Room with 10 tables for Club Texas Hold’em. The total capacity of the venue is up to 2,000 people.

 

Outside of the casino, there are great outdoor activities just minutes away from Sochi to enjoy for visitors from around the globe including 30km of ski slopes, Sochi Sky Park with a 200m bungee jump and the iconic Olympic Park.
