Dhaval Joshi and Jon Borenstein lead WPT Rolling Thunder at end of Day 1a

There were a total of 166 players for Day 1A of the $3,500 WPT Rolling Thunder Main Event 86 are through to Day 2 on Monday. The chip leader at the end of play was Dhaval Joshi. He has 181,100, with poker pro Jon Boronstein hot on his heels with 173,800.

Sweden’s Michael Tureniec, currently ranked fourth on his country’s all time money list, is currently in third place with 146,000. The EPT Copenhagen champion has more than $3.7m in live tournament winnings.

Other notables who survived Day 1A include Hublot WPT Player of Year race points leader Benjamin Zamani, who bagged up 104,000 as well as WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star champion Sam Panzica. Reigning WPT California Swing champion Ankush Mandavia also made it through along with Sorel Mizzi, Connor Drinan, Niall Farrell, Kevin Eyster, Joe Keuther, Mohsin Charania and Kevin MacPhee who was 10th at Bay 101.

Harrison Gimbel won last year’s event, beating Mohsin Charania heads-up for his first WPT title. There were 409 players with Gimbel taking $275,112 for first. The Florida native was fourth in 2015 as well.
