EPT Malta champion Niall Farrell has added another heavyweight title to his CV after taking down the Season XV partypoker World Poker Tour Caribbean Main Event in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The ebullient Scotsman topped a field of 323 entries for his $335,000 prize and first WPT Main Event title.
Farrell, who described himself as the “THE TWO TOUR CHAMP” after his victory on Wednesday, now has more than $3.3 million in career live tournament earnings and is just $600k away from overtaking David Vamplew to become Scotland’s #1 ranked live tournament player. His biggest cash remains the €534,330 he won last year after taking down the EPT Malta Main Event; he also won $ 486,383 after making the final table of the $111,111 High Roller for One Drop at the WSOP last summer and $366,815 after he was runner-up in a $3k NL event at the World Series in 2013.
Others who cashed in the Caribbean include British pro Stephen Woodhead (6th), WPT Champions Club member Keven Stammen (8th), Manig Loeser (20th), Ari Engel (22nd), Ankush Mandavia (27th), and Sam Greenwood (30th).
Next up on the WPT schedule are WPT Prague in Europe and WPT Five Diamond in Las Vegas. The WPT Prague €3,300 Main Event runs December 2-6 at Hotel Grandior in the Czech Republic, and the WPT Five Diamond $10,400 Main Event runs December 5 to 10 at Bellagio in Las Vegas.
