Time to book GUKPT Edinburgh

By Mad Harper

Following a fabulous event in Blackpool – which attracted more than 300 entries for the Main Event – it’s already time to be thinking about the next stop on the Grosvenor tour in Edinburgh.

The GUKPT is heading north next week for its annual jaunt to Edinburgh. The festival is Leg 4 of this year’s 17th GUKPT season and gets underway on May 4 with an action-packed £150 + 30 + 150 Mystery Bounty event. The £1,000 buy-in GUKPT Edinburgh Main Event starts on May 11.

GUKPT Edinburgh runs May 4 to May 14; we’re the GUKPT’s Official Travel Partner so let us help book you a fabulous hotel in the Scottish capital.

This year’s Main Event features three start flights (including a Day 1c turbo), with two re-entries per flight. All players will receive a 20,000 starting stack with 60-minute levels. As well as the Main Event, the Edinburgh schedule also includes the ever-popular £250 buy-in Mini Main, £1,500 High Roller, £550 GUKPT Cup and £150 Seniors tournament.

Grosvenor Ambassador Katie Swift, who was runner-up in the recent GUKPT Blackpool Turbo event, said: “I’m looking forward to going for gold in Edinburgh. Blackpool was my first trip back to the felt after a long absence this year so it was great to do well there. I don’t know if I’ll be in Scotland for the full festival but I’m definitely playing the main event. Edinburgh has always been a fab stop on the GUKPT and attracts a ton of players, so it’s great that it’s hosting a full schedule this year.

Last year’s GUKPT Edinburgh stop was won by a Scotsman when Gary Armstrong (pictured below) beat fellow Scot Cameron Williamson to seize the trophy and a first prize of £57,770. A whole bunch of Scots also made the money including finalists Sunny Rehilhu and Chris Welsh. A total of 38 players cashed including Youness Barakat, David Docherty, Paul Rigg and Calogero Morreale

Previous GUKPT Edinburgh champions include Nathan Slater, Garry Stevens-Smith, Paul Green and Tommy Le. The GUKPT, now in its 17th season, is Grosvenor Poker’s premier tour and the longest-running poker tour in the UK.
