Thimothy Cavallin wins WSOP debut circuit event in the Caribbean

By Mad Harper

Congrats to Thimothy Cavallin who has won the WSOP’s first circuit event in the Caribbean - at Casino Royale in Sonesta Maho Beach Resort on the beautiful island of Sint Maarten. The $84,000 first prize was by far the biggest live cash that the Barbadian player has ever achieved after he beat a 224-strong field in the $1,675 Main Event. The tournament had a $250,000 guaranteed prize pool but far exceeded that with $336,000 divvied out among the 24 players who made the money.

Other winners during the 13-day festival included Martin Ryan from Trinidad and Tobago who was crowned the PLO champion on November 12, banking $8,730, and then went on to win the $365 No-Limit Hold'em Event the next day for a further $10,900.

Players can head back to the Caribbean in January for the very first PokerStars Championship event in the Bahamas. The nine-day extravaganza at the Atlantis resort (the event formerly known as the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure) promises to be a sensational event. Check out our Bahamas hotel options here  –  including rooms in the exclusive Atlantis Royal Towers along with stunning suites at The Cove.

The WSOP Circuit event in Paris is underway now, and don’t forget that the WSOP has added six more stops to its international schedule with the Punta del Este Main Event in Uruguay kicking off December 3 and Sydney on December 8.
