The Voice of Poker Lon McEachern to launch series of video clips for MainEventTravel.com

By Mad Harper

Lon McEachern, known as the Voice of Poker after commentating on the WSOP® for more than 20 years, is set to launch a series of video clips for MainEventTravel.com. McEachern is a huge name in Poker thanks to his lengthy career doing hand-by-hand commentary for ESPN’s World Series of Poker coverage alongside Norman Chad.

Lon McEachern first partnered with MainEventTravel when the business launched and is back again to produce some exciting video content about Poker travel, Vegas and MainEventTravel’s incredible #FinalTableFreeroll promotion. You’ll be able to watch the videos featuring the voice of Poker AND the voice of MainEventTravel.com across the MainEventTravel.com media platforms.

McEachern, who hails from Memphis, started his broadcasting career during college with stints on the University of California at Santa Barbara campus radio station. After graduating, he began working at KTMS Radio before making the move into TV.  It was in the early 1990s when he first started freelancing for ESPN with play-by-play coverage of the X Games. He then took a break from broadcasting and was working as a mortgage banker when ESPN managed to lure him back to cover Poker.

In 2003 McEachern joined Norman Chad to provide commentary for the World Series of Poker Main Event. The timing could not have been more fortuitous: 2003 was the year that accountant Chris Moneymaker won the World Series for $2.5 million after qualifying online for just $86. Moneymaker’s sensational victory revolutionised the World of Poker and, for McEachern, 2003 was the start of a massive career at ESPN. He and Chad have covered every World Series of Poker Main Event ever since.

McEachern has also proved he’s no slouch when it comes to playing poker. In January this year, he snagged his first WSOP Circuit ring when he outlasted a 181-entry field to win the $400 Seniors Event at Thunder Valley Casino in Northern California. The $15,008 score was his largest payday to date and brings his live tournament winnings up to more than $76k.

He said: “I’m thrilled to be working with MainEventTravel again. I’ve known the company since it started, and I REALLY like what they do. MainEventTravel.com was created by poker players for poker players, and that dedication to players is still what they’re all about. Everyone at MainEventTravel is absolutely passionate about Poker and the whole website has been designed with the Poker player in mind. For me, it’s a natural fit. I’m looking forward to resuming my role as the voice of MainEventTravel.com.”
