All in a day’s work: Stephen Chidwick wins $366,500 in Panama $25k

British pro Stephen "stevie444" Chidwick rallied from a six-blind short stack to win $366,500 in just one day yesterday after beating a 44-entry field in the PokerStars Championship Panama $25k Single-Day Single Re-Entry tournament.

 

Next stop: PokerStars Championship Macau, March 30 – April 9.

 

Chidwick, who hails from Deal in Kent but currently lives in Mexico with his fiancée Marine, can add last night’s winnings to the $400k he’s already made this year after making the final in both the $50k and $25k events at PokerStars Championship Bahamas. He now has over $7 million in live tournament earnings and is ranked #2 on the stacked English all-time money list.

 

The 27-year-old, who also has two SCOOP and two WCOOP titles under his belt, beat German pro Koray Aldemir heads-up. Aldermir won $253,340 with third-place finisher Mustapha Kanit snagging $161,700 bringing him close to $9 million in live earnings.

 

The PokerStars Championship Panama $25k Single-Day Single Re-Entry tournament attracted 44 entries, creating a $1,078,000 prize pool.

Day 1b of the $5,300 Main Event saw Jiachen Gong take the lead with 154,300. There were 259 entries yesterday with 128 going through to Day 2 later today.
