It’s another one for the history books as PokerStars’ popular new grassroots MEGASTACK tour has broken France’s all-time record for a live poker tournament.
There were 2,177 entries for MEGASTACK La Grande Motte near Montpellier at the weekend with French amateur Jonathan Jovet coming out on top. Jovet, who only snagged his first recorded live cash in July after making the final of Unibet Deepstack Open Malta, won €43,148 after beating the record-breaking field.
Poker fans and media outlets are full of praise for the MEGASTACK formula which provides recreational players a chance to experience the excitement of a well-organised live poker event without breaking the bank.
The next MEGASTACK events are in Spain and France. First up is the €40,000 guarantee MEGASTACK Valencia at Casino Cirsa Valencia. That event – MEGASTACK’s debut on the Iberian peninsula – starts tomorrow and MEGASTACK Namur runs from Thursday. Next week the tour is off to Sheffield MEGASTACK (September 22-24) and will be back on the Iberian peninsula with a debut event in Estoril from October 4-8. MEGASTACK London is from October 20-22. All MEGASTACK stops have a €170 buy-in and €40k guarantee.
The series is designed to bring live poker to players’ doorsteps at a low buy-in level and to offer players a platform to build their poker career.
