Mcaulay wins GUKPT Edinburgh

By Mad Harper

Huge congratulations to Scottish player Paul Mcaulay (pictured) who has won GUKPT Edinburgh for £34,110. Mcaulay, who runs a flooring company near Glasgow, beat 2022 Player of the Year Matt Davenport heads-up to secure his first major tournament victory. There were 184 entries creating a prize pool of £153,980.

Meanwhile an hour earlier, Davenport’s fiancée Sinead Priestley (pictured below) – who finished 16th in the Edinburgh Main Event – managed to defeat Cal Morreale heads-up to take down the GUKPT Edinburgh Cup for £10,280. This is Priestley’s second big win of the year after victory in the 888poker UKPL Luton Opening Voyage tournament in March for £17,865. She also made the final of the UKPL Luton Main Event for £4,390 and was fourth in the UK Poker Open Mini for £21,516 in February.

Ankit Ahuja (pictured below) won the Edinburgh High Roller, outlasting a 50-entry field – and beating Grosvenor sponsored pro Jamie Nixon heads-up, to seize the trophy and £25,200 first prize. Scottish player Craig Smith, who was fourth in last year’s Edinburgh Main Event, won the £220 Mini Main for £14,620. There were 344 entries in the Mini Main, creating a £67,750 prize pool.

Matthew Cartwright (pictured below) took down the 80-entry PLO tourney for £3,330 while Paulo Santos won the £180 Turbo for £2,930 after beating GUKPT regular Callum Gordon heads-up. Anthony Gray beat an 87-entry field to take down the Seniors event for £2,760.
