By

Arthur Harvey, more commonly known as “The Colonel”, is leading the £100k guarantee GUKPT Leeds Main Event with 179,600. Harvey, a well-known figure at Grosvenor events has five GUKPT cashes to his name, including a third place at GUKPT Blackpool in 2015 for £32,300.

If you’re planning a last-minute dash to Leeds, we are the tour’s Official Travel Partner and can help you find great accommodation. Late reg is open for six levels. Leeds is one of the UK’s most vibrant cities and attracts millions of visitors a year, nightlife is booming and there are tons of bars, restaurants and clubs – plus excellent shopping.

Day 1a in the books

With 106 players competing on Day 1a yesterday, only 29 made it through and will be back on Saturday to join those who make it through Day 1b today. This year’s GUKPT Leeds promises to be one of the best GUKPT events of 2017; all the Grosvenor Ambassadors are in town with Joe Beevers, Will Kassouf and Katie Swift set to compete today.

Grosvenor Ambassador Jeff Kimber, who went to university in Leeds, is among the top survivors from Day 1a. His 88,100 chip stack was given a giant boost around 10pm last night when he bust two players on the feature table with KK.

Other notables who made it through include GUKPT Passport winner Andy Hills who was runner-up at Grosvenor Blackpool 25/25 last weekend. Hills was down to 15k near midnight but managed to double up to with two pair and finished the day on 36,400. Also still in is 2015 GUKPT Blackpool runner-up Yannis Liperis on 77,800.

MET all-in triangles

As always at GUKPT events, MainEventTravel.com is sponsoring the all-in triangles in Leeds to do watch out for them on the live stream.

This year’s GUKPT Leeds is a welcome return for the tour which unfortunately had to bail last year after the casino was badly damaged by floods. The unscheduled two-year break means that 59-year-old retired executive Stephen Foster is still the defending champion. He won GUKPT Leeds for £24,500 back in 2015.

Now celebrating its 11th season, the GUKPT is the  longest running poker tour in the UK, welcoming poker enthusiasts from all across the country for a packed week of fun poker action.
