UK-based American Deborah Worley-Roberts is second in chips in the WSOP Ladies Championship. There are 85 players still in the running for the top prize of $135,098 as the event heads into Day 2 later today. The $1k buy-in tourney drew a total of 718 entries creating a prize pool of $646,200.

Worley-Roberts, known as “Debs the Destroyer, has 114,900 while the current chip leader is American Parm Mehmi who finished Day 1 with 120,000 chips and was fifth in the 2015 Ladies Event.
Debs bagged the second-biggest stack after turning a set of fives and eliminating Lavonne Joyce in a big pot in the final level of play. Living in Hove on the UK South coast, Debs has more than $110k in live tournament winnings and recently made the final table of the Unibet UK Poker Tour in Brighton just a few miles from her seaside home.
Debs is being cheered on at the WSOP by a whole bunch of UK-based players who took part in the event including Sin Melin, Unibet Ambassador Daiva Byrne, partypoker’s Charlie Godwin and Hippodrome ambassador Kelly Saxby – along with hundreds of members of the “Ladies at Unibet Poker” facebook group.
Also thriving in the WSOP Ladies Event are Vanessa Selbst, the most successful female poker player in history, Sweden’s Diana Svensk, WPT anchor Lynn Gilmartin, Sonia Padovani and Gina Rossi from the UK. Kent mum Katie Swift bust just before the bubble. All players remaining are guaranteed at least $1,605.
