Geilich becomes two-time champ at GUKPT Blackpool

By Mad Harper

Grosvenor sponsored pro Ludovic Geilich has sensationally won a second GUKPT title, taking down the £1,250 buy-in Main Event in Blackpool for £56,150. His victory comes only two months after he joined Team Grosvenor and less than four months since finishing fourth in Blackpool last November.

Geilich outlasted a field of 207 entries this time around and was a massive chip leader going into the star-studded final table. He beat Callum Gordon heads-up with Gordon taking £42,080 for his runner-up finish. It was a bitter-sweet result for Gordon who also finished second in last November’s Blackpool after a chop with Ian Gascoigne.

Geilich said: “Callum is a very tough opponent. He’s never been knocked out in Blackpool! He played a great strategy heads-up and I played the exact same strategy so I’m over the moon to win.”

Andy “Stato” Hulme finished in third place for £29,500 and Keith Johnson was fourth for £19,620. 2022 Player of the Year Matt Davenport was eighth for £7,120.

Geilich has had a close relationship with the Grosvenor tour right from the start of his live poker career. His first recorded cash came in 2007 when he finished eighth in a £200 GUKPT London side event. But it wasn’t until Edinburgh last year that he won his first Main Event title. The £79,590 first prize helped boost his total live tournament winnings to over $3.6 million.

Next up for GUKPT fans – Leg 4 of the tour in Edinburgh from April 4 to 14. Don’t miss the chance to win back up to 100% of your MET-booked travel costs in credits! The GUKPT Edinburgh Main Event is one of scores of tournaments this year which are eligible for MainEventTravel’s amazing #FinalTableFreeroll promotion.
