Get ready for the GUKPT Grand Final 2022
By Mad Harper
GUKPT makes London the place to be!
The hugely popular Grosvenor UK Poker Tour – better known simply as the GUKPT – is making the Poker Room at the Victoria Casino in London an absolute must-visit destination for poker players right now.
A giant GUKPT festival kicked off on November 18 and features a total of 13 different events. The first big tourney – the £1,250 buy-in GUKPT London Main Event – attracted a huge field of 471 entries, with a £518,100 first prize.
The Grand Final Main Event kicks off on December 2 with the £2,000 buy-in Grand Final Main Event. The tournament features three entries per flight and all players get a 20,000 starting stack. Among those competing will be Team Grosvenor stalwarts Katie Swift, Richard Trigg and Jamie Nixon, along with newest team pro Euan McNicholas. McNicholas topped the Grosvenor National Poker League this year to secure a £20,000 sponsorship deal with Grosvenor after an epic battle with Ben Teague. McNicholas’s achievements this year include beating a 804-entry field to take down GUKPT London in July for £165,800 and he also won a £200 GUKPT Blackpool side event a few weeks ago.
Team Grosvenor pro Katie Swift said: “I’m really looking forward to the GUKPT Grand Final Main Event. I’m here for the first and last chunks of the fortnight-long festival, playing lots of side events and have already cashed in the first event of the series. It’s the perfect way to conclude the annual poker calendar.
“Playing both online and live has been so enjoyable during 2021. Poker has boomed since the pandemic and everyone is really enjoying the return to the live tables. With the most recent addition of the newly crowned NPL Champion, Euan McNicholas, #TeamGrosvenor is going from strength to strength. The team is really looking forward to the Grand Final festival and beyond into the new season.”
The Poker Room – often dubbed the home of UK Poker – will be buzzing for the Grand Final Main Event but players should take care not to miss other great tourneys taking place – including a £2,700 High Roller starting November 30, the G400 on Saturday, December 4 and the last event of the festival, the £200 buy-in Last Call.
