GUKPT London starts June 30

By Mad Harper

The second GUKPT London kicks off June 30 at the Poker Room above the iconic Victoria Casino in Edgware Road. Leg 5 of GUKPT 2019 will feature a flagship £100,000 guarantee Main Event starting July 4 and £10,000 guarantee Mini Main starting on June 30 as well as a host of other side events.

Numbers were through the roof for the first GUKPT London of the year; January’s Main Event attracted a record 467 entries and generated a staggering £467,000 prize pool. The first champion of 2019, who opted to remain anonymous, beat Greek pro Alexios Zervos to the  £100,000 first prize with poker superstars Martin Jacobson, Ludovic Geilich and Patrick Leonard all enjoying deep runs in the stellar event. The £20,000 guarantee Mini Main Event also hit record entry numbers with 395 runners.

MainEvent Travel sponsors the GUKPT all in triangles so do look out for them on the live streams from Leg 5 of the 2019  - GUKPT London.

The tour’s second visit to London this year will feature a packed schedule. In addition to the unlimited re-entry Main Event and Mini Main tournaments, there will also be a £250 + £25 8-max, Omaha 4/5/6 and 50/50 Bounty.

Grosvenorpoker.com guarantees 3 x £560 seats via direct satellites every Wednesday and Sunday for the Main Event. There are also many low buy-in feeders to both direct satellites that run around the clock.

At the last GUKPT in Luton, British amateur Chris Louch took down the £560 buy-in Main Event for £50,550 after beating a 382-strong field. It was the first time that the GUKPT will be visiting Luton twice in one season – the tour returns to there in October. Louch’s first was far and away his best live poker tournament score but his winnings also include cashes at Grosvenor Casino Manchester, the 2016 GUKPT Goliath and Championship of Amateur Poker in Austria. In the £115 Mini Main event, Danny Petros was the official winner after a two-way chop with runner-up Graham Pound. Both players received £6,632.

As well as the packed schedule of satellites and tournaments, there will be plenty of cash games on offer.
