GUKPT heads back to Leeds after record-breaking Goliath

By Mad Harper

After yet another record-breaking Goliath in Coventry, Grosvenor Casino’s popular GUKPT is back on the road with the £100k guarantee GUKPT Leeds running September 9-16.

We are the tour’s Official Travel Partner and can help you find great accommodation for GUKPT Leeds as well as all other remaining stops on the 2018 GUKPT schedule.

Leeds is one of the UK’s most vibrant cities and attracts millions of visitors a year, nightlife is booming and there are tons of bars, restaurants and clubs – plus excellent shopping.

This year’s GUKPT Leeds boasts a very packed schedule. As well as the £560, £100,000 guarantee GUKPT Leeds Main Event (running September 13-16), the schedule also features a ton of other tourneys including the £10k guarantee Mini Main, an £100 Omaha 4/5/6 event and a £100 Turbo Bounty tournament – plus, of course, lots of satellites and cash games.

Among those competing in Leeds will be Grosvenor Ambassadors Katie Swift, Jeff Kimber, Will Kassouf and Andy Hills.

Swift said: “I’m heading to Leeds for a girlie trip with my Mum – to see if her run good can continue. She was runner up for £16k in the Goliath Super High Roller!! Leeds is a great city, great schedule and a great GUKPT coming up. Really looking forward to it.”

Jeff Kimber added: “I love Leeds and can’t wait for the GUKPT. After the huge success of Goliath, it'll be another great event. I went to Leeds Uni and lived in the city for years; there's loads of fun things to do there, but hopefully I'll be too busy running deep in the Main Event. I made the final day last year but got three-outered to miss the final table, hopefully I'll do better this year!”

The 2018 GUKPT Goliath broke its own record this year for the largest poker tournament outside of Las Vegas with a 7,584-strong field.  Florian Duta took it down after turning his £125 buy-in into £101,450.

Last year’s GUKPT Leeds

The last GUKPT Leeds event in 2017 attracted a host of big names and was won by Leung Cheung for a career-best cash of £37,900 after he beat a 308-strong field. Cheung, who hails from Leeds, narrowly missed a double victory in his home city; he was runner-up in the Mini Main Event after being beaten heads-up by Hannah Swales.

Now celebrating its 12th season, the GUKPT is the longest running poker tour in the UK, welcoming poker enthusiasts from all across the country for a packed week of fun poker action.
