Congrats to Stephen Barnes, 888poker LIVE Manchester Champion

By Kelly Saxby

Stephen Barnes has won the Main Event at 888poker LIVE’s epic festival in Manchester. After cutting a heads-up deal with eventual runner-up Zhicheng Miao, Barnes – who hails from Runcorn – won a career-best first prize of £58,000 while Miao took £44k.

There were 279 entries in all, creating a £265,050 prize pool. Among those who cashed was Callum Gordon, whose 15th-place finish for £3,150 (plus victory in the Mystery Bounty), was enough to propel him into a narrow lead in the Grosvenor National Poker League. Current Player of the Year Cal Morreale is now in second place, with 2022 Player of the Year Matt Davenport in third.

These same three players are also in contention in the 888poker LIVE UK Poker League leaderboard; Matt is currently ahead in that one - with five £10k 888poker LIVE Event packages up for grabs.
