Brits thriving for Day 4 of WSOP!

By Mad Harper

Brits continue to do well at this year’s WSOP. Artan Dedusha is one of the top stacks with 1,084 players left from the 7,221 entries. Dedush, who was the Day 2c chip leader and is competing in his very first WSOP Main Event, has 1,288,000.

Dedusha already has $118,186 in live tournament winnings to date and is clearly on a roll; he scored his biggest cash ever a month ago when he took down the Grosvenor 25/25 Series in London for £25,241 and in April he was third in the PokerStars Cup in Monte Carlo for €18,832.

British pro Charlie Carrel survived the Day 3 carnage and ended with 964,000. Other Brits who are still in contention for the $8,150,000 top prize include Lawrence Bayley (who led at the end of Day 2ab), Max Silver, JP Kelly, Tom Hall, Rory Brown, partypoker’s Charlie Godwin, Jake Cody, Talal Shakerchi and Tamer Kamel. Irish player Patrick Clarke is in great shape with 1.2m and is one of the chip leaders. The overall chip leader is American Patrick Lavecchia on 1,552,000 followed by Polish pro Pawel Brzeski. Former November Niner Antoine Saout from France is currently third.

Britain put up the third largest most entries in this year’s WSOP with 324 players taking part. There are also 41 from Ireland. Players from the USA dominated the event however with 5,218 competing.

Other notables through to Day 4 include 888poker Ambassadors Sofia Lovgren and Dominik Nitsche, Felipe Ramos, Cate Hall and Natasha Mercier.

MainEventTravel CEO Fraser MacIntyre bust the event before the money yesterday. He wrote: “Huge sigh. Busted the WSOP main event. I guess I'll need to wait until next year for my time! Off to enjoy some holiday time.“

This year’s WSOP is the third largest ever, with 7,221 players creating a massive $67,877,400 prize pool, to be shared by the top 1,084 players. The winner will get $8,150,000 – or a cool $10 million if they are a 888poker qualifier. Everyone who reaches the final table is guaranteed $1 million.

The money bubble burst at around 1am local time leaving 1,084 players in the money. The bubble boy was Quan Zhou who was eliminated by Belgian Triple Crown winner Davidi Kitai; Zhou wins a seat into next year’s WSOP Main Event for his troubles.
