Brammer wins bracelet; brings UK total up to three

By Mad Harper

British pro Chris Brammer has won his first WSOP Gold bracelet yesterday after defeating a 505-strong field to take down the $5k NL event for $527,555.

Brammer came into Day 2 seventh in chips out of 49 returning players and was the short stack going into the final table which lasted just six more levels, or around three hours of play. He said: "It was a turbo tournament, so the blind levels went up fairly quickly. That creates a lot of action, and it's important to win those all-ins. And I think I won pretty much all of them. I was dealt a lot of good cards. There were situations where I could shove into them and put pressure on them."

Brammer, who hails from Winchester, has made two previous WSOP final tables. He finished fifth in the $10k NL 6-Handed event in 2012 for $200,502 and was fifth again at the WSOP Europe Main Event for $270,908 the same year. Yesterday’s win takes him up to more than $1.8 in live tournament winnings and he’s ranked #48 on the UK’s all-time money list.

Chris Moorman, who won his first bracelet in the $3k six-max, also had a deep run in Event #45, finishing 18th for $17,196. Max Silver was 34th and James Akenhead 35th, both cashing for $12,109. Irish player Conor Beresford was 37th for $10,497. The top 76 finishers got a share of the $2,438,250 total prize pool and the top five received six-figure payouts.

Britain’s first bracelet at the WSOP went to Liv Boeree who won the $10k Tag Team event with boyfriend Igor Kurganov.

Narrow miss for Glaser!

Benny Glaser, who has won more WSOP bracelets than any other British player (three!) narrowly missed scooping another today after finishing second to American Chris Vitch in the $10k Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo event. Glaser tweeted: “No 4th bracelet this time, but happy with the result! Thanks for all the support everyone!  And congrats @DeathDonkey!” Officially, Glaser won $197,838 but tweeted a cash of $242k.
