888Live Festival heads back to London in November

By Mad Harper

888Live will be heading back to London in November with a giant 888Live London Festival at Aspers Casino offering 12 days of non-stop poker action from November 22 to December 3.

The stop is comprised of 10 events culminating in a £1,100 buy-in, £400,000 guaranteed Main Event, which will offer five starting flights and run from Thursday, November 29 through Monday, December 3.

The winner of the Main Event will also claim an 888poker LIVE package for a future festival of his or her choice.

The festival is expected to attract players from across the world, including several making the trek from across the pond including 2017 World Series of Poker Main Event champ Scott Blumstein (pictured), 2009 WSOP champ and four-time bracelet winner Joe Cada, and 2018 WSOP Main Event runner-up Tony Miles. We also expect more big names to confirm in the near future.

All events on the schedule will be played with the Action Clock, while the Main Event, High Roller, and Super High Roller tournaments will also have a BB Ante.

The £2,200 buy-in High Roller will host a single flight on Wednesday, November 28. Players will start with 100,000 in chips, play 40-minute levels, and late registration and unlimited re-entries will be open until the start of Day 2 (8 levels). They will then play down to a winner on Thursday, November 29.

There is also an extra £5,000 buy-in Super High Roller on Sunday, December 2 with late reg and re-entry open until the start of Day 2 (8 levels). That tournament will play to a winner on the last day of the festival – Monday, December 3.

Other highlights

A further highlight on the schedule is the £220 buy-in Opening Event, which will offer four starting flights. Other notable events include a £100 buy-in Ladies Event, a £125 Pot-Limit Omaha, and an affordable £80 Turbo Deepstack, as well as live versions of popular online tournaments like The Hurricane, The Swordfish, and The Whale.

While the 888poker LIVE London is expected to be the most significant collaboration to date between 888poker and Aspers this year, it is far from the first. Back in February, Jonathan Bowers topped a 547-entry field to win the £440 888poker LIVE Kickoff Main Event for £30,630 ($42,620), while Elizabeth Cape and Justin Tsui both captured 888 London Classic titles this year for £21,245 and £23,125 respectively.
